Us PIGS love to give ourselves a challenge.  We've pretty fairly mastered the Floyd catalogue between the years of 1971 and 1981 at this point, so to switch things up we're planning to go way back into the mists of time and play some very early-Floyd gigs.  That's right, songs like Interstellar Overdrive and Cymbaline and Careful With That Axe will get their debut, and we hope to re-visit old classics like Green is the Colour, The Embryo and Wot's...Uh The Deal.  We're hopping to experiment with a new, simpler set up (no more towering amp rigs) and trippy acid-influenced light show for these tunes.  This will be a new experience for us - we're sure it will be exciting and fun and we hope you'll all enjoy it too.  Keep your eyes on the upcoming shows section for more details!

12 July, 2010

PIGS successfully completed a number of shows up-island, including Port Hardy, Port McNeill, and Cumberland - and we had a great time!  We'd like to say thanks to everyone who made the shows possible, and to all the people who showed up and had a great time celebrating the Floyd's music with us.

In sadder news, our great and close friend Amy has left the band due to scheduling issues.  We still love her very much, and are certainly 100% less pretty as a group with her gone.  In the future we hope to lure her back for some shows, perhaps with promises of food or beer.

The rest of us little PIGS will continue soldiering on and bringing our authentic Floyd show to the masses and celebrating everything that is Pink Floyd.  We're looking forward to playing some shows in the fall and winter of this year, and of course we'll be seeing some of you at Roger's Wall show in December!

19 March, 2010

Just past the notorious ides of March, us PIGS are gearing up for yet another show at the Upstairs Cabaret.  It will be on the first of April (note: This is NOT a joke) and will be loud and wonderful.  Please see our Tour page for more information.  We are very excited to see all of our Victoria fans again, and will be playing a set containing a number of hard rocking and so far rarely played tunes like Dogs and One Of These Days!

9 February, 2010

A big thanks to everyone who came out to the Campbell River gig!  We had a lot of fun and played our piggy little hearts out.  There were plenty of good times on the drive up as well - including probably the first time in history anyone has said "Oh god - I spilled the gravy all over the Hiwatts!"  Turns out it's not just our playing that is delicious!  That'll teach us to eat in the PigsVan™...

Our next show is up in Duncan at the Phoenix.  Bar gigs aren't the norm for us, but they can be a riot - we love playing in Duncan, and they seem to love us!  We're looking forward to a set full of rocking tunes, including the majority of Animals and a big chunk of the Wall and no filler or tunes from the 1980s whatsoever!

Finally, it looks as though we'll be playing our annual gig at the Upstairs Cabaret at the very beginning of April.  Keep an eye on the TOUR page for more details there.  Our Snowy has promised us that his wife won't have their baby that night, and we're going to hold them to it.  If they break their promise we'll let the first person in the crowd to name Nick Mason's second solo album come up and play guitar with us - free of charge!

12 January, 2010

Welcome to the start of PIGS: 2010!  We're looking forward to having a great year of tunes, and hope to see all of our fans (and a bunch of new ones) as soon as we can.

Most important news: Our show at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River is coming up very soon.  The show is on January the 29th; tickets and more info can be found by going to our "Tour" page.  We're very excited to be playing a new town!

Secondly, we would like to thank everyone who came out to see the show at Lucky Bar last month.  It was a huge success and much money was raised for charity.  Our first performance of "Animals" all the way through was great fun for us, and great fun for the audience too;  we do appreciate a good sing-along!

Last, but not least:  We are in the process of adding a number of new shows to our calendar, so there will be changes on the "Tour" page.  Please keep an eye on it so you don't miss us when we're in town!

Happy Thanksgiving!

After a busy debut year, the PIGS are enjoying a bit of downtime before we launch our 2010 season. We'll be working at making the show bigger and better for the next time we come to your town. Watch also for some website updates with new photos etc. happening in the next few weeks.

Our last show at the Artspring theatre on Saltspring Island was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came out and cheered us on! The Driftwood newspaper reviewed our show, check it out here.

Until the next time, shine on,

21 September, 2009

Wow, the concert at Alix Goolden was such a great experience for us. It was an amazing experience to be able to play in such a gorgeous building and for such an exuberant crowd. Standing ovations, cheers from the balcony. . . something none of us PIGS will be forgetting in our lifetimes. Thanks again

Anyone who wants to see us again close to home can always hop on a ferryboat and go to Saltspring! We are playing at Artspring theatre on Saturday, October 3rd. Tickets are available from the Artspring box office at local 250-537-2102 or toll-free 1-866-537-2102. The theatre is located at 100 Jackson street on Saltspring Island.

16 September, 2009

Our one year anniversary has just passed, as has the anniversary of Rick Wright's untimely death from cancer last year. It's a bittersweet time for all PIGS and Floyd fans.

We'll be honouring Rick's memory with a special blog post in Adam's Always Wright section of the site. Check it out.

Of course we'll also be doing some special songs for Rick and Syd on Saturday, September 19th at the Alix Goolden Hall. We'll be playing the album "Wish You Were Here" in its entirety, as well as some new surprises.

Tickets for this show are available from the McPherson box office in Victoria, Call 250-386-6121 or go to their website. Tickets are $22.25 adult / $18.25 student. see you there!

21 July, 2009

PIGS are back from the show in Duncan, and cooked pork is the order of the day - turns out that outdoor shows in the summer are kind of warm. The show was a great success, though, thanks to the fantastic crowd. Nothing warms our little hearts like watching youngsters singing along to all the songs.

Next up will most likely be our Alix Goolden Hall show in Victoria. If you've been on the fence about coming to see us (or if you've seen us a few times and want to see us again - and who wouldn't!), be sure to come check us out on the 19th of September. It's going to be an amazing show - our biggest indoor production yet. There will be lights. There will be lasers. There will be fog. There will be fantastic sound. And... There may even be a cover-to-cover performance of Wish You Were Here.  Just putting that out there.

Speaking of new songs, remember that you can of course suggest things you'd like to hear right on our Facebook group - the link is on the main page.  Always wanted to hear something out of the ordinary like "Childhood's End" or "Corporal Clegg", or even "The Final Cut"?  Well - now's your chance!  We really do aim to please, and we're always looking for a challenge.

28 Jun, 2009

PIGS would like to thank everyone who helped out and came out to the shows in Port Alberni and Nanaimo.  We had a great time, even if we were mistaken for the window cleaners outside the Capitol Theatre.  It was wonderful to get out on the road - we're looking forward to playing on the mainland soon.

In other news, it's time for new promo shots.  PIGS are planning on shooting a photo replicating the back cover of Ummagumma at some point this week.  It's not going to be easy - but we'll go to almost any length to entertain our loyal fans!

15 June, 2009

Thanks to everyone who helped make our last concert in Sidney, B.C. a great success. The band and the production team were in fine form as we played to a near-sellout crowd. Special Father's Day thanks go to Mark Szczepanowski and Bill Hingley for being the world's hardest-working PIGS promoters and fans.

Your next chance to see PIGS live is in Port Alberni, Friday June 19th at the Capitol Theatre. The following night, Saturday, June 20th, we'll be at the Spice Lounge in Nanaimo.

PIGS t-shirts are here! They cost $25 each, and come in different sizes and shapes. More info to come. For now if you'd like one, come down to a PIGS gig and get one from a lovely assistant.
